Mobile Gas and Keep Mobile Beautiful to Host MLK Avenue Area Great American CleanupPosted May 2, 2016
Mobile Gas and Keep Mobile Beautiful have partnered to clean up the Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue area for the 18th annual Great American Cleanup campaign. On Saturday, May 14, 2016, Keep Mobile Beautiful, the Mobile Gas Leadership & Environmental Education Program, the City of Mobile, and partner organizations and businesses will pick up litter along the main areas of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.
The Great American Cleanup campaign is the nation’s largest organized annual cleanup, beautification and community improvement program. Each year, more than 4 million volunteers and participants across the country take action in their local communities to create positive change and lasting impact.
The media are invited to join Mobile Gas and Keep Mobile Beautiful on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the parking lot of Calloway-Smith Middle School -350 N. Lawrence Street, Mobile, Alabama 36603. Volunteers will meet to register, get assigned their designated cleanup zone and pick up their supplies. They will return at the end of the cleanup for lunch. Registration begins at 8:00am. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue Area Great American Cleanup is from 8:30am – Noon.
Join Mobile Gas, Keep Mobile Beautiful, City of Mobile, Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, Mobile County Public Schools, Mobile Housing Board, Environmental Studies Center, McFadden Engineering, Dearborn YMCA, Bishop State Community College, Corporate Environmental Risk Management, and MLK Avenue Redevelopment Corporation as they work together for a cleaner, greener Mobile.
