Mobile Gas employees participate in #GivingTuesday to help feed the hungryPosted December 8, 2015
Mobile Gas employees opened their hearts and wallets to help feed the hungry. On December 1st, employees joined the Sempra Energy family of companies to participate in #GivingTuesday. The national day of service follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
For one day, employees made a monetary donation through payroll deduction to the Bay Area Food Bank. For each donation made, the Sempra Energy Foundation made a two-for-one match. Mobile Gas’ total #GivingTuesday effort raised $740.
The Bay Area Food Bank distributes more than 17 million pounds of food each year to 24 counties along the Gulf Coast, and the need continues to grow. For every ten donated dollars, the Bay Area Food Bank can leverage the money through its programs and provide over $100 worth of food to a family needing a meal on their table.
Collectively, the Sempra Energy family of companies donated $47,166 to help feed the hungry during the holidays.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, nearly 850,000 meals across the country will be served this holiday season to individuals and families who struggle to put food on their tables.
