Compassion for the Kids Campaign Spreads Cheer to Children for the Holiday SeasonPosted December 22, 2015
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for the employees of Mobile Gas! This is the season where they get to spread some holiday cheer to some unsuspecting friends. For several months, they secretly held fundraisers to buy gifts, toys and donate money to St. Mary’s Children’s Home and Wilmer Hall Children’s Home.
Both of the organizations are “home away from home” for many children who have to reside at the facilities for circumstances beyond their control. But while there, the staff and volunteers give them all the love and support that they need.
For the holiday season, the employees of Mobile Gas picked two organizations they wanted to support. St. Mary’s Children’s Home and Wilmer Hall Children’s Home ranked at the top of the list. They bought gift cards, held a company chef’s challenge, sold hot chocolate, cooked breakfast, held a silent auction and tacky sweater contest, or simply gave a monetary donation.
The Sempra Energy Foundation, located at the corporate headquarters in San Diego, California, heard about the employees’ efforts and decided to match any donation made through payroll deduction.
The Compassion for the Kids Campaign raised over $4,482.00 (which was split between the two organizations). What a joy it was to surprise St. Mary’s Children’s Home and Wilmer Hall Children’s Home with this gift of generosity. Just to see the smiles on the faces of the staff and children was well worth the effort. Happy Holidays!
