Mobile Gas kicks off 2015 Summer of Giving Donation Drive

Posted June 22, 2015

Mobile Gas is proud to partner with the Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast and the Mobile SPCA and for the Third Annual Summer of Giving Donation Drive.  Between June 22nd – July 9th, employees will dig into the back of their closets and dresser drawers to help two non-profit organizations within the Mobile Gas service area.

“By giving to others, whether it’s through a monetary donation, clothing, toiletries, bed linens, etc., it’s a reminder that not everyone is as fortunate to have the basic necessities,” said Kesshia Davis, director of marketing and community relations for Mobile Gas.

One of the non-profit organizations is the Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast. For about two weeks, employees will donate clothes, towels, and sheets. The donations will be sorted and sold in the organization’s area stores for an affordable price. Also, Mobile Gas employees will donate gently worn shoes to the Mobile SPCA, an animal shelter and pet adoption agency.

Lorna Hodges, budget and analysis manager for Mobile Gas, is a long-time supporter of the organization.

“The Mobile SPCA does more than just shelter homeless pets. It educates the public on the importance of spaying and neutering cats and dogs to control the pet population,” said Hodges. “The organization also is a no-kill shelter, so it works hard to place pets with the right owners so they can have a forever home.”

Mobile Gas’ goal is to help the Mobile SPCA collect 2,500 pairs of shoes during the donation drive. If the goal is reached, WoofTrax will donate $1,000 to the Mobile SPCA. WoofTrax will send the donated shoes to impoverished countries where they can be repaired and then sold.

In previous Summer of Giving Donation Drives, Mobile Gas employees donated items to Penelope House, Our Sister’s Closet, Ronald McDonald House and 15 Place.
